Kara Byrd

Kara Byrd currently serves as the Community Development Officer for First United Bank and previously served 8 years prior as Executive Director of Imagine Durant, a nonprofit created to develop a citywide strategic plan. Kara has been responsible for multiple initiatives, creating solutions for complex problems in the public and private sectors, and is a catalyst for change at the local and state level.  Kara currently owns 4 small businesses and has 2 small bosses, Krete (4) and Etta (2) who make sure she has no time to slow down at home.

Kara is also currently a political advisor, a mentor with the John Massey Leadership Scholars Program, Co-Chair of First United Banks Love and Impact Council, Sustainable Durant Treasurer, and John Massey School of Business Advisory Board Member.

When not actively working and serving her community you can find her spending time with her family and friends, usually at a coffee shop!
